When you step onto the property of this gorgeous Midcentury Modern home, you will immediately feel transported back in time with its unique architectural details that are nearly impossible to find in homes built today! The architect Paul Rich was inspired by the works of Frank Lloyd Wright when he built it for his family’s personal home in the mid-20th century. 2033 S Kings in Springfield is unlike any home for sale in SW Missouri with its unbelievable attention-to-detail that you must see in person to fully appreciate!!
This historic home with 4 spacious bedrooms and 3.5 baths has only ever known two owners since it was built in 1950. Jane, our seller, bought it in 1979 and has constantly been maintaining and loving her home for the last 38 years. She’s now ready to hand it over to a new family to continue to love its beauty and history for many decades to come!
We recently sat down with Jane and asked her to take us through her home to tell us about her favorite spaces and elements. She is very passionate about her gorgeous home, and we are excited to take you through this masterpiece to show you what makes it different from any other home on the market today!
The Curb Appeal and Exterior
Located in the heart of Springfield close to shopping and hospitals, 2033 S Kings has a well sculpted environment of low maintenance. A circular drive and mature landscaping with a sculpted private yard design gives the home spectacular curb appeal and is the envy of every home on the block. A second private drive to the home’s carport off McGee allows for double access and convenience. Even outside, there is no shortage of incredible design!
One of the best features of the home are the two private and secluded patios on the property that adds so much to the inspiring peaceful environment.
The exterior materials of redwood and brick blend perfectly with the natural environment and the gorgeous detailed front door to welcome into the breathtaking interior!
The materials used for the home’s exterior flow seamlessly inside which is immediately evident upon walking into the foyer featuring vast windows, travertine marble floors, striking woodwork, and double-sided brick fireplace that leads into the home’s formal living room.
The Living Room
One of Jane’s favorite spaces in her home is the living room! Simply imagine yourself sitting in this gorgeous room with the colors coming through the stained glass window against the brick walls and fireplace to the soaring ceiling with wooden beams. We are relaxed and inspired just imagining sitting in this captivating room that looks straight out of the pages of a home design magazine and HGTV!
Dining Room and Family Room
This home is truly perfect for entertaining with the seamless flow from each living space to the next. Unique architectural details of travertine marble flooring, woodwork, soaring ceilings, and vast windows continue into the home’s open dining room and family room. Highlights of this space also include the stone accent wall with wood-burning stove and architectural stairs that lead to a loft area. The loft area offers an overview of the living space and is ideal for extra storage or a little reading nook.
The Mother-In-Law Suite
A wonderful feature is the fully-equipped mother-in-law suite with its own full bath, kitchenette, private outside access, plus handicap features! The history of this part of the home is very interesting. The “annex” originally served as a game room that was unfinished with concrete floors. When preparing for her mother to move in with them, Jane contracted 3 young architect students from Drury to design a convenient, well-designed space for her mother to live. The result was this inviting space that is separate, yet still close to the rest of the home.
The home’s newly-designed kitchen with dining area boasts multiple custom elements. Spacious cherry cabinets, wood beamed ceiling with skylight, tiled back splash, and pantry will make cooking in this kitchen a pleasure, not a chore! And as a bonus, all appliances stay!
The Bedrooms and Bathrooms
Historic, custom details certainly aren’t lacking in the bedrooms or bathrooms either. The 3 additional bedrooms in the home are very spacious and provide ample closet space for all of your storage needs. The tranquil master suite even has a private patio!! Each comfortable bedroom is truly a private oasis for every guest and family member. And don’t forget the full baths that are well-designed and also spacious with unique details.
A Lasting Impression
Pictures and descriptions can only say so much about a home. To fully appreciate this masterpiece in all of its historic beauty with unique architectural details, you must see it in person! Once stepping onto the property, you will be transported back to a time of timeless elegance!
